Booms

Booms are part of the essential absorbent arsenal to clean up oil in fresh or seawater spills. ESP UK have a number of specialist and innovative boom constructions, contact us for more details about these technologies.

The most economical construction of boom is sock-in-net. This assembly features a spun-bond sock inside a rugged outer netting. A polypropylene core is then inserted into the spun-bond sock. This allows the water and oil to access the core with the polypropylene attracting the oil based substance whilst repelling the water.

ESP UK offer booms in conventional lengths as well as shorter bilge booms.

Sock-in-net

This is the most economical construction of boom we offer. Comprising of an outer netting that contains a spun-bond sock which in turn holds a polypropylene core.

The booms feature rust proof snap hooks 60cm in from the ends along with sturdy rust proof rings at each end so that multiple booms can be attached to each other to form longer barrages. A tough nylon rope also runs the entire length and is secured at each end with double clips to maintain a strong and durable product. The Bilge boom features the same construction but without the end rings and snap hooks.

Sock-in-net construction is available in two sizes of diameter and as conventional booms and bilge booms.
